Colin Neufeld is an architect and partner at 5468796 Architecture. In its 13 years of practice (2020), the firm's modest projects have received every significant Canadian design award and a number of important international prizes, often alongside large institutional projects - the Houston-based Rice Design Alliance recently stated that they "truly believe 5468796 to be one of the most talented young design firms worldwide." Born and raised in Winnipeg, Colin obtained his Bachelor of Environmental Design degree and Master of Architecture degree from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Architecture (FAUM). Prior to joining 5468796 in 2008, Colin worked for eight years at a number of other local firms, including Stantec Consulting Ltd and Nejmark Architecture.
Colin has led a significant number of projects by the firm, including The Avenue on Portage and its main floor tenant, Manitoba Start, Bloc_10 Condominiums (RAIC Award of Excellence for Innocation, Architectural Review Emerging Architecture Award, Governor General's Medal in Architecture), the new corporate head office of G3 Canada Ltd at Protage and Main, 90 Alexander, the James Avenue Pumping Station (ArchMarathon Refurbishment finalist, World Architecture Festical future project finalist), as well as extensive work on many heritage revitalization projects.
In addition to practice, Colin has taught design as a sessional instructor at the FAUM since 2011 and lectures at universities, symposiums and award competitions world-wide.
