Sacré Coeur is an old institution which began in c.1905 as a parochial school for boys and girls, run by a religious order and attached to a Catholic parish of the same name; they had a new school constructed on this site in 1961 and by 1973 it was re-opened as the first French immersion school in Manitoba and currently has 300 students from several school division
Sacré Coeur was then purchased by the Winnipeg School Division as part of their growing immersion program and in 1993, a large addition was made to the school and the older sections reworked into the new design
