25,000 sq. ft. mixed use building located at the former North YM-YWCA site at 363 McGregor St.
The centre includes a basketball court and game facilities; a youth centre with a climbing wall and an indoor skateboard park; a unique state-of-the-art child care centre; an indoor playground and an outdoor play yard; and a community commons kitchen, café and meeting place. In addition there is administration space for the partners to aid in the delivery of support programs which include health care, employment and life skills training, and community organization and development.
The partners had diverse needs and specialized requirements, our resulting solution to this challenge was a very reasoned building organization with a compelling interpretation of the building presence on McGregor Street and College Avenue. The outcome of the project was a strong neighbourhood statement that was embraced by the partners and the community.
The facility is also known as Win Gardner place after community member Winelda (Win) Naomi Gardner.
